I could have gained a few points on Randling tonight

What is a 'desire path'? That was the question on Randling tonight. And I knew the answer!
As The Bette Davis Cup Squad correctly answered, it's a shortcut, an unofficial path worn through parkland, made by people refusing to use the official path.

I wouldn't have known the word except that someone put up a sign saying, 'We want our desire path', when our favorite exit from Quarries Park was blocked off.

You could have but, as you might have noticed, it wouldn't have made any apparent difference. It is v. v. ordinary for a show that makes a habit of insisting that "all the points count" to delete segments at random. Last night, the Bette Davis Cup Squad were 6-8 down. They took the aforementioned Thought Grenade, and were successful! So they were now 10-12 down... um, what?

The points either matter or they don't, Zapruder. Don't encourage me to invest and then screw about with it.

Oh, Anonymous, you're so much more on the ball than we were. We did notice something weird had happened with the scoring, and said to each other, 'Whoa, stop right there, something is wrong with the scores,' but didn't think it through that maybe some segment had been deleted. On the other hand, I do think it's part of the humor of the show that the scores are crazy and always hang in the balance on the last question, even if that's not logical.

seems like andrew denton has taken his scoring system from spicks & specks - or perhaps good news week... the scores never made any sense - or maybe numeracy skills are lacking...

proud womon, I enjoy shows where it's about playing, not winning, so in general I just laugh when the scoring is up the spout. We haven't worked out if there's even any prize at the end of the Randling season. I think the 'ladder' is hilarious.

i love these shows too parlance - as with spicks and specks (i'm addicted to the repeats now!) - i just love their 'irreverence' (mostly matches my own)...

I love the shows where the players aren't trying to cut each other off at the knees, and there's really no prize except the pleasure of participating.
